About Me

Dylan Johnston
Hi! I’m a math tutor with a passion for helping students truly understand what they’re learning—not just memorize steps. I’ve been homeschooled since grade 3, and early on I discovered a love for math. As I got further into it, I often had to teach myself new concepts, as it was one of the main focuses of my homeschool curriculum. I know how tough and confusing that can be, especially when math isn’t taught clearly or in a way that makes sense. That’s why I started tutoring: to make math easier and more accessible for younger students.
Outside of tutoring, I’m also a ski instructor and ski race coach. Whether I’m teaching online or on the slopes, I love finding creative ways to explain ideas, connect with students, and build their confidence. In my online lessons, I focus on breaking down concepts into simple, logical explanations, using metaphors and strategies that actually stick. My goal is always to help students build a deep understanding of what they’re doing and why it works—so math becomes less of a struggle and more of a skill in which they can feel confident.
